Professional Resume
Where to start? Here's a little bit about me.
I graduated from Texas A&M in December 2006 with a bachelors in agricultural science and agricultural journalism. After several media internships, including serving as an editorial intern at the American Quarter Horse Journal--where I earned my first cover--I knew magazine writing was my chosen calling. I joined the American Paint Horse Association in January 2007, beginning as a staff writer/photographer and eventually becoming the assistant editor for the Paint Horse Journal, Paint Horse Connection and Paint Horse Racing magazines. I honed my craft at APHA, writing lots of print and online articles and photographing some of the most beautiful horses in the world. I earned several American Horse Publications awards for my writing and photography. In July 2011, I left APHA to begin a freelance writing and photography career.
Social media has been a part of my life for many years, and I took my penchant for online communication with me to APHA, where I helped launch their social media presence, specifically using Twitter and Facebook. Since then, I've worked with boutique businesses to amplify their voices in the social media world. I work with clients to develop their vision for social media marketing and implement our strategy through the appropriate channels seamlessly.
I've had some type of blog since college, when I wanted to share my French study abroad experiences with family. As my interests have grown, I've continued to utilize this medium. Today, I write blog posts for clients as well as (attempt) to keep my own blog updated.
On a personal level, I'm a voracious reader. Love coffee. I'm a third generation shoe addict and I'm obsessed with celebrity fashion. I love to cook, to try new foods and wines and I love to travel around the world with my husband. Horses will always be an important part of my life--once a horse girl, always a horse girl! We have two cats and a princess of a Yorkie. I'm always up for a good conversation over the previously mentioned coffee or wine.
That's me in a nutshell!
